CAS-Colour and Sketches #14

Friday Eve again and that means a new challenge at CAS-Colour and Sketches. This week we have this fabulous sketch for you:

It took me a while to convert this sketch to my version of CAS-I challenge this was! Actually I was pretty stumped. Then my cousin Lynn mentioned on her blog here that she was a guest designer at Craft Meow. And I suddenly remembered I had a 'retro' craft meow set. This set contains a 'disco ball' stamp-well that is what I think it looks like-and my card idea came together:

I have masked the ball and mixed and matched a few sets of sentiment stamps to come up with my 'retro' version of this sketch.

Our DT have all fab takes on this sketch, so go and disco over to here and take a peek, then get stamping!
Looking forward to visiting your blogs and seeing all your cards x

Inkspirational Sketch Challenge

This week at Inkspirational we have this fabulous sketch for you:

I loved the sketch and decided to go with the colour combo of white and cream. I have to say I do love this combo. Here is my CAS version of this sketch:

I have scored the linen card stock to represent the back panel. I embossed some white card stock then die cut these 2 hearts. I was not sure what celebration I would use this for, so kept the sentiments simple so I could decide at a later date.

Our DT have come up with a fabulous collection of projects based on this sketch-a real variety, so there should be something for every taste........so take a peek here and I am sure you will be inspired.
And don't forget our monthly winner gets the chance of a $30 gift card from our fabulous sponsors Eclectric Anthology
Happy crafting!

Muse Pink and Black

Hi all,

This is a fleeting visit to share with you a card I made today using the 'Secret Garden' and Bloomin' Marvelous' stamp set from SU.

I was inspired by Deanna Jean's fabulous card at the Muse Club this week. I loved how the large flowers were so prominent against the white space and decided to focus on this. The colour scheme this week on Make My Monday, of pink and black, was one I was not prepared to pass me by......who doesn't like pink and black! I combined pink ink with different shades of pink promakers and a few black gems.
I stamped my flowers on the background and main section together then raised the centre card with foam pads after embossing it with the linen IP.

Have a 'bloomin' marvelous' evening my friends!

And Deanna's card:

Cheers!

Happy Sunday,

I hope you all are having a relaxing Sunday and get some time to do some crafting.

My card today is made with my new Stampin' Up stamp set 'Happy Hour'. This set arrived at the perfect time for me to make a 'guy' birthday card I needed. This guy loves his glass of red wine so I went with that theme. The challenge at Addicted to CAS this fortnight is 'masculine' so this was another push to get this card made!
I remember seeing my fellow DT member Karen use this set to make a girly version. I asked her if I could case  fabulous this card. My version is very CAS and much more 'masculine'. I based the layout on the sketch below from Retro Sketches

This week is a big 'cheers' to Retro Sketches as it is their 1 year anniversary and you can choose any of the last 52 sketches. This one is their second ever sketch and I chose it because I felt it suited a guy CAS card.
This is what I came up with:

I will also enter this into the 'something for a guy' challenge at Craft Room Challenge

Hope you have a good day and perhaps a glass or 2 of red wine!

Inkspirational Challenge-End of Week Encouragement!

Are you playing along with our 'case' challenge at Inkspirational? If not, you still have time to 'case' Vicky's  gorgeously CAS card-you know how much I love a CAS card!

Enter our challenges all month and you could be in for a chance of winning a $30 gift card from our fabulous sponsor this month Eclectic Anthology.

Here is my 'case' of Vicky's card:

I went with Vicky's theme of 'Get Well' and her layout. I have actually paper pieced the front of the tissue box and used markers to colour the rest of the box. All stamps are from Paper Smooches

And here is Vicky's card:

So what does Vicky's card inspire you to create? You can get more inspiration and ideas from our design teams fantastic creations here.
Happy Stamping and I can't wait to see what you make x

Friday 22 February 2013

Its that time of the week again!

Yes my crafting friends.........its my weekly Christmas post!

This week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown the theme is love and hearts. Slightly easier for me than the colour combo last week. However it has taken me all week to get my ideas together! I knew I wanted to use  the digi sentiment from Create with TLC  but that was as far as I got, however this is what I came up with:

I remembered seeing this tutorial on Technique Time Tuesday last November. I loved the cards I saw made using this 3D punch element technique but hadn't tried it. So today I followed the step by step guide to make my heart bauble. I actually used a heart die cut. I love how it turned out and I think it is perfect for the sentiment.
The background card is dotted embossing to match the polka dot DSP but the photo doesn't show it so well.
I added the twine and heart button to hang my bauble and then stamped a little red heart to finish off my card.

I will also enter this into the following challenges:
Crafting All Seasons-die and punches
Can you Digi it-Love is in the Air

Have a great Friday!

CAS-Colour and Sketches #13

Friday Eve again and that means a new challenge at CAS-Colour and Sketches. This week the colour challenge is:

I didn't have these exact colours so used the closest inks I had.

And here is my card-the little small circles are actually my Summer Starfruit but they kinda look a bit orange here!

I really enjoy making cards like this-just stamping and making my own pattern. I am pleased with the way this turned out and have tried to make sure I have followed the 'triangle' stamping technique.
All stamps are from Paper Smooches.

So what do these colours inspire you to make? Perhaps you want to go all stamping like me, or DSP or die cuts?? I am excited to see what cards you make. And don't forget our fabulous DT have some more inspiration for you. Take a peek here.

Happy inking x

Inspiration!

Today I am popping in with a card that was inspired from a few different sources.
I am going to list them as this may be an easier way to explain how this went! (all inspiration cards, sketches and photos can also been seen at the bottom of this post)
  • I saw this fabulous bright card by Marion Vagg at the Muse Club this week and immediately knew I wanted to focus on the chevrons.
  • I saw this fabulous CAS sketch at Retro Sketches
  • I saw this photo at Runway inspired and loved the navy outfit with the slashes of colours.
  • And finally I loved Lauren's card for this Muse challenge and decided this was the direction I wanted to go. In the spirit of the muse club-thank you Lauren for inspiring me
It is so weird when all these pieces of inspiration just creep up and you and viola a card comes together!

And here is all the inspiration

Can't sleep???

I woke up at 3.30am and couldn't get back to sleep. After tossing and turning for a while I decided to get up and make a cup of tea. Then after browsing blogland decided to try to finish the card I started over weekend. Everything I tried with my card at the weekend didn't work but this morning this went a bit better but not as well as I would have liked. I just couldn't get the stamping quite right.
However I decided to share it with you and next time you can't sleep because your mind won't rest-give crafting a go (I am sure many of you do this anyway but this is a first for me!)

I have had this gorgeous stamping up paper for a while now and decided to follow the pattern into my focal point by using this leaf stamp from paper smooches.

And here is the inside of the card:

I am going to enter this into the Black, White and splash of one other colour at Cas-ual Fridays and Scrappers Delights.
Have a good day x

Mum's Valentine's!

Happy Friday crafting chums!

I am dashing in today to share a card that I made for my Mum to give to Dad for Valentine's Day. Mum was staying with me for a couple of days and we decided to make this just before she was about to leave. Therefore I decided to look up the 10 minute Craft Dash . As luck would have it, the challenge this week was to make a card in 10 mins that featured hearts!
I already knew I wanted to enter the 'red' challenge at Casology so it seemed perfect to case this card that I made and loved. I knew I could case this card pretty quickly! And the score on the doors was 8 mins 22 secs!!
Mum loved it and I let her loose on my inky tools and she had fun stamping the inside of the card.

And here we have the card with the never before inked Paper Smooches sentiment-isn't adorable!

And I have to show you Mum's first ever inking experience!

Have a fun weekend x

CAS-Colour and Sketches #12

Happy Valentine's Day my friends!

I hope you are all loved up and have a day full of hugs and kisses!!!

Today I know I should be sharing a Valentine's card but I'm guessing you have seen quite a few them over the last month. So I am going with a Birthday card instead.

This week at CAS-Colour and Sketches is our sketch challenge week. And here is the sketch we have for you:

I thought about this one for a while as I really wanted to use stamps to represent the circles. I played around with various stamps and finally went with the PTI medallion set. I recently learnt the triple time stamping technique but today I have just used double time stamping-not sure if that is a 'thing' but I tried it and liked how it looked! What do you think?

I added a die cut flower with a centre pearl to give the card an extra dimension.

I am looking forward to seeing what this sketch inspires you to make. Our DT have made some super cards using this sketch so pop over to our blog here and take a peek.

Have a fun and loving day and happy crafting!

Its the Christmas Time of the week!

Hello friends,

If you are looking for my Inkspirational  post for today click here

This week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown the challenge is a colour combo. Danielle went with the non-traditional combo of brown, yellow and white. Well I just was completely stumped. I have been trying to enter this challenge every week and this was the week I thought I would not make it! Danielle, you really did challenge me with this combo!!

However, I am not one who gives up easily and I played around and decided to case this card I made last November! I have used brown glitter card for the long die cut bauble. For the smaller die cut bauble I have inked it with versa magic white ink. Both of these are raised on foam pads and the final bauble was inked directly onto the yellow card stock. The card stock is a much brighter yellow IRL however I couldn't seem to capture this in my photo!. I used brown twine to hang the die cuts.

I am also going to enter this into the 'bingo' challenge at Addicted to stamps and More (using glitter, stamp and free-my free being the twine) and the monthly 'Christmas' Challenge at Crafty Hazelnut Christmas Challenge and Crafty Hazelnut Christmas Challenge 111-we don't want anymore snow!!

Please feel free to copy to your sidebar

Inkspirational Photo Challenge.

Are you all ready for Valentine's day? Is your card in its envelope? If not perhaps our challenge today at Inkspirational will inspire you to get inky!

We have this photo to inspire you:

I was inspired by the burst of colours against the white background in this photo and using a freebie image from our sponsor Eclectic Anthology I made this small square card:

The white background I have embossed with a wood grain folder and inked the edges. The sentiment is from Verve-I popped this up to give a bit of dimension. I fussy cut a flower and a few leaves from the main image, from the sponsor freebie, to surround this. And finished my card with a touch of bakers twine to match the card stock.

Our DT  have some great projects here that I am sure will inspire you!

Happy Crafting x

Lets have bags of fun!

Hello friends,

This week is the fourth week at the Muse club. This week Therese has a fab and fun card to inspire us. Take a peek here.
I loved the colours and the layout and so just went from there and this is what I came up with:

What can I say....purple is my colour!!
My mojo has recently been snoozing but I loved Therese's card and to help me get back into the flow I chose one of my old but much loved stamps. I kept it simple and you know what I love the end result!

I am also going to enter this into the 'girly' challenges at Eclectic Ellapu and Moving Along With The Times

And here is Therese's card that inspired me. If it inspires you pop on over to the Muse club here and join in the fun-it is all about us being inspired by each other and giving each other encouragement. I love the idea and have a great time visiting the blogs of others who enter. Enjoy!

Christmas in Feb!

I made it through January with a Xmas card each week and now February begins. And here is my first card for this month:

This card is for the sketch challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. Here is the sketch that Danielle set for us:

I have actually used a stamp from the summer set of stamps 'relax' by Verve. It is a 2 layer stamp with a bold and outline image. I am actually quite chuffed with myself about this because I saw the stamp early this week and knew I wanted to use it for this sketch and just played around and came up with a snowflake shape out of my Summer stamp! Isn't it great when something works like this! I added a few gems to keep the card CAS as I loved the clean look of the design and didn't want anything to over power it.

And just for Ruth ,who is on the DT, I decorated the inside:

So week 1 of Feb done!

Have a good evening my friends x

Muse #3

Happy Tuesday my friends,

This week at the Muse Club are inspiration comes from the super talented Laurie Willison. I loved the felt flower on her card here and the stamped leaves on the background card stock. These are the elements that inspired me. I combined these with the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch this week to come up with this card:

The card is really made in the 'spirit' of the Muse club-to use what you have in your stash! The red felt, button, die cut and embossed  leaves were already made in my stash but not yet used! The only thing I made was the butterfly!

And here is Laurie's card:                                And the sketch I have used:

Have a great day x

Muse #2

It is the second challenge at Muse and this week we have one of Suzanne Dahlberg's funky and bright cards as our inspiration. You can check her card out here and also at the bottom of this post.
I almost didn't enter this week as, there was so much to take from the card, that I was a bit overwhelmed. However whilst thinking about it this week I kept coming back to the grey background with the arrows and the really bright pink colours and patterned paper. So this is what I took from the card and this is how my card turned out:

Originally the grey swirls were arrows but it just didn't look right to me so, arrows became grey stamped swirls! I die cut the butterflies in patterned paper and layered them. The little gem is actually grey! All white card has been linen embossed too give a subtle texture.
I decided to make this a Birthday card as I am running short on these-expect a few more in the next week or so!
I am also going to enter this into the 'Things with Wings' challenge at My Time to Craft.

And before I sign off, here is Suzanne's card:
